Forum03 May 2008 04:09 pm

OK, I know that there is a problem with the forum. Unfortunately, I have been unable to get a hold of the guy who created the plug-in before I have to run some errands today, and the “fixes” posted by others in his “support forum” just left me horribly confused.

If anybody who has a better idea of CSS than I do wants to go here and make heads of tales of the forum readability issue, be my guest — and I just might make you a moderator. If not, cross your fingers and hope I can get this taken care of by the time I get back. If not, I will seek out another forum option for this site — which disappoints me, cos I really liked how this one sets itself up within the site.

Forum and How To Use the Forum and News and Wrench Watch On-Line03 May 2008 12:10 am

Well, my fellow David Wrench fans, I have good news and I have great news: First the good news!

Thea Sigma has found me more David Wrench photos! Two of them, though, are unattributed; one is unattributed because it was just a random photo she found on her hard-drive, and the other is, well, I accidentally closed the tab after I already saved it without attribution.

She found a bunch more and I just e-mailed the person who took them for permission to re-post them here.

Thea Sigma also found David Wrench’s MySpace? It’s pretty empty and only has Tom listed as a friend, but if this is, in fact, genuine, he’s an Aries, enjoys long walks on the beach, a smoking and drinking Athiest, has at least one Wrenchling, and is seeing somebody. Ah well, I can still look, right?

Even better news?!?!

There is now a forum! I promised you people a forum, didn’t I? :-D I wanted to wait, though, until I had the right forum plug-in for this, and I found it! And gave you a forum! Whoo!

HOW TO USE THE FORUM:

  1. Are you registered with the site? You’re not? Oh, lordy…. OK, first register with the site. How? See the sidebar? Yeah, that column to the right. Scroll down until you see a link that says “Register”. OK, now click it. Fill out the necessary info. Ta-Daa! You are now registered and can use the forum! Also, be sure to log in where it says “Login” in the side-bar, when you are not logged in.
  2. If you feel like it, edit your profile. You can do this either at the control panel after you log in, *or* you can do that at the forum, where it says “My Profile” and then click “Edit profile”.
  3. Post! Go to the forum. Click on a topic sub-forum. Post you brains out.
  4. If you have any suggestions, make them in the appropriate sub-forum.

Keep in mind that you can still comment on the site updates like you always could, unless, of course, I change my mind in the future. You don’t have to register with the site to comment, but you *do* have to register to use the forum.

David Wrench's production credits and News and groups Wrench has been involved with21 Nov 2007 10:20 am

latest David Wrench production and engineering credits I found in a google search:

Songs For Lonely Americans by Sir Vincent Lone
This also includes “ambient keyboard drones, downtempo drum machines and even a little hip-hop turntablism” credited to Wrench

Oh What A Blow That Phantom Dealt Me by Jackie Leven

And also, David Wrench has been involved with the Welsh band Swci Boscawen, and they just released an album, Coture C’ching. Buy it now.

As always, if you have any other David Wrench news, feel free to e-mail it to me.

Also, because I’m seeing a need for it, I’m going to be creating a forum for this site so that other losers with no life David Wrench fans can communicate and stuff. Oh yay.

OK, I’m going to stop being a lazy sod and go do my own music now.

Reviews and Wrench Watch On-Line and interviews18 Apr 2007 01:40 pm

Interviews Page

Much thanks goes out to “Alex” for providing this. I’m thinking, eventually, I may want to get around to mirroring the content of a lot of these articles that I find or am pointed to on-line. Of course, I am lazy when it comes to a lot of my on-line projects and additionally, I am currently in the middle of a lot of my own projects, so I’m probably not going to get around to doing that today. Or even in the next week or so. But hey, eventually is better than not at all.

ALSO OF NOTE:
I just did a couple of searches and added a couple of reviews from MusicOMH.com to the “Reviews” page.

ME BEING A NERD:
I also noticed that the David Wrench Is Sex blog has been booted from the #2 place on a yahoo! search, but it’s currently #6 on an ask.com search.

I can’t believe I missed this the first time.

David Wrench worked with Zoë Skoulding and Alan Holmes on his first full-length solo record Blow Winds Blow. Their current project is Parking Non-Stop. I’m taking some listens to the sound files they have on MySpace and I really like what I hear. Think like Virgin Prunes’ A New Form of Beauty or Iannis Xenakis-meets-Kraftwerk.

Wow, I can’t believe I hadn’t found this before.

It’s old news, but seeing as I’m rather busy with my Sexy Hobbit Medical Issues (I’ll spare you), so far, this is what I’m finding. As I’ve said before, I’m not connected to David Wrench or his management (though I did find somebody on Last.FM who claimed to be a [presumably] person friend of Mr Wrench — I told the “friend” that David Wrench is sex, and I think he laughed at me… oh well, at least he was nicer than the neighbour kids…), so all Wrench News is reported as I find it.

This post today comes from the blog at greenplastic.com. The following is the post re-printed in its entirety:

David Wrench’s Creep Tantrum
March 16, 2004 06:20 PM - Posted by Dylan

Random Welsh musician David Wrench wanted to cover “Creep” on his new EP. He was told no. He did not take it very kindly, in fact, he posted the following (we’ll leave his grammar intact) on his website-

Due to Radiohead banning the cover of creep, the world war IV ep has been withdrawn. We approached Thom Yorke of the band in manchester to ask why permission was not allowed, but all he did was get angry and started shouting “do you know how hard I work?”, well probably quite hard Mr Yorke, but then again so does everyone else I know, and for a fraction of the pay and satisfaction you get out of work. We genuinely believed that Radiohead would have given permission for use of their song on an anti war ep, but they work far too hard apparently. FAKE PLASTIC POP STARS. If you would like to let Radiohead themselves know what you think, the email address for their management is bryce@cyard.com

If you’re interested, you can go find out more about David Wrench over at his homepage. You can also listen to some of his music. I’d recommend the Radiohead-esque track “Superhorny” (”I’m superhorny/with UK repression/got a stiff upper lip/and a permanent erection” to a CasioTone beat.), but unfortunately I can’t because it’s not very good.

CUTW delightfully adds that if you would like to let David himself know what you think, the email address for his management is info@storm-music.com.

(Thanks to Just Radiohead/CUTW.)

As we here (me here?) at David Wrench-Is-Sex know, and have alerted you, davidwrench.com is currently defunct and it looks like it’s been bought out buy advert people at the moment. Heinous. Still, I haven’t heard any news that he’s died, so this is more of an annoyance to me than anything.

In happier news, on a simple Yahoo! search, The top page for David Wrench is the Wikipedia entry, followed by the David Wrench Is Sex blog! Yes, this site has beat out the BBC mini-site. Granted, ask.com doesn’t even seem to be aware that this site exists, but coming up #2 on a yahoo search isn’t bad.

Lastly, but not leastly, to those not in-the-know but in need of a Wrench fix, Ochre Records still has available in their catalogue You Have Just Been Poisoned By The Serpents, which features David Wrench in the group’s line-up. Ochre Records now also has a MySpace page, just in case you’re interested.

I shall some day return with more Wrench News — same Wrench time, same Wrench URl.

So, in my search for More David Wrench Stuff To Add Here, I came across this Welsh band called Swci Boscawen. I guess you could call them “Pop Punk” or “Power Pop” (is there really a difference?), but their music is interesting in that the singer seems to perform exclusively in the Welsh language. I tried noodling around with Welsh when I was maybe twelve? I didn’t get much further than pre-remedial pronounciation and a couple of words. At one time, all I could say in Welsh was “I love you” and “Hello” (in short, I was trying to translate lyrics by The Doors to Welsh for no reason other than I was bored), but I haven’t really retained any of it. (After all, the mind is the first thing to die….) I have an aunt who married into my mother’s side of the family who speaks Welsh as a first language and English as a second language, but I’m pretty sure she died some years back.

…but I digress…

So, I can’t speak, much less understand, any of these lyrics, but the band here plays some pretty neat little songs — and they’re available to download via their MySpace page! Whoo!

(Oh, yes, David Wrench has some involvement with this band as Producer and session musician, so that’s why I’m posting here.)

This is the new, UNOFFICIAL fansite for musician David Wrench.  Basically, when I find out news about David Wrench, I’ll post it to this portion of the site.

His official site seems to be defunct at the moment, so I’ll be compiling a biography based on notes I’ve found in various places (mostly on-line).  If you have info you think will be useful, please feel free to send it to me via the contact page.

Soon, I’ll also open up a forum so that Wrench fans may communicate and keep each other informed on events such as performances and CD releases.
